We are assembling a team of 8-10 swim and surf instructors, to volunteer teaching at our lessons in Weligama, on Sat mornings from November 2020 through April 2021.
Who are you?
You are a certified swim or surf instructor. You are a passionate woman, spending at least a few weeks Sri Lanka this fall/winter/spring, either on surf holiday or living and working in the area. You find the thought of getting involved with the local community during your time in Sri Lanka really exciting and are stoked about helping local girls and women enjoy the ocean!
What the Position Entails:

You will attend and participate in our weekly swim and surf lessons in Weligama

Lessons are divided into three sections; swim training in a pool, ocean safety discussions and surf instructing on the beach
-
Based on your experience and qualifications, you will participate in one (or more) of these sections, coaching our participants (local girls and women ages 8-40+)
Availability
-
Present in Weligama, Sri Lanka for a minimum of 6 consecutive weeks between November and April (preference goes to those who are available the whole period)

Can commit to attend SeaSisters lessons every Saturday morning 8am-12pm (during your period of availability)

Available for bi-weekly for ‘SeaSisters hangouts, where we gather the team to go over updates / discuss strategy, and then do something fun! (surf, eat, etc.)
Required Experience:

Must be female (at this time, our lessons are female-only in order to respect cultural norms and remove barriers to ensure the local women are able to participate)

Must be certified in swimming or surfing (specify in application with date of issue)

Must be trained or licensed in first aid or ocean safety (specify in application with date of issue)

Must feel comfortable teaching a range of ages (8-40+)

Must have experience teaching swimming or surfing

What We Provide:

Bi-weekly activities with the SeaSisters team (i.e. day trips, meals, etc.)

Option to surf with the SeaSisters team during the rest of the week

Opportunity to play a role in Sri Lanka’s developing surf tourism sector; by enabling local women to start surfing, you can contribute to a shift in gender roles that empowers women and changes the local surf scene for the better!
