Social Media & Graphic Design Intern
LOCATION

Internship, unpaid
Responsible for social media, design of marketing materials and communications related tasks (incl. public relations and press releases). As a young organization, we are open to all ideas and encourage you to explore your skills and interests within the position. The goal is that we both grow as a result of your internship!
What the Position Entails:
Social Media
-
Develop a social media strategy / monthly plan to increase influence and following across social media platforms
-
Find creative ways to use social media to promote our core areas of change (women’s empowerment, ocean safety and environmental awareness)
-
Responsible for weekly posting (3-4 Instagram & 2-3 Facebook posts/week)
Design
-
Use our brand guidelines mixed with your own creativity to design marketing materials (i.e. event flyers, program one-pagers, leaflets, infographics, etc.)
Communications
-
Help track and respond to press requests
-
Respond to messages via various channels (email, Instagram, Facebook)
Required Experience:
-
Graphic design (flyers, one-pagers, infographics, etc.)
-
Social media (run accounts, increase influence, grow follower base, etc.)
-
Adobe Photoshop / Illustrator
-
Web design (highly preferred)
-
Strong writing skills

What We Provide:

As a new organization, we are operating with a tight budget so unfortunately, this position is unpaid. However, we provide everything we can, which includes:
-
Accommodation in Midigama, Sri Lanka (private room with bathroom and shared kitchen), walking distance to several restaurants and surf breaks
-
All work-related costs (transport to surf lessons, work activities, etc.)
-
Bi-weekly activities with the SeaSisters team (i.e. day trips, meals, etc.)
Additional Benefits:

Option to surf with us before and after work (if you are not a surfer, we are happy to set you up with a lesson, or point you in the direction of great snorkeling, beaches and fun day trips including tea plantations, hiking and other exciting activities)

Option to participate in our weekly swim and surf lessons, engaging with the local community and spending Saturdays in the sun :)

Play a role in Sri Lanka’s developing surf tourism sector; by enabling local women to start surfing, you can contribute to a shift in gender roles that empowers women!

Sales Intern

Assist us in launching our product line, managing sales in shops and markets and bring a business mind to the team. As a young organization, we are open to all ideas and encourage you to explore your skills and interests within the position. The goal is that we both grow as a result of your internship!
What the Position Entails:

Communicate with retailers (order products, check in with shops etc.)

Manage product logistics (deliver products, print related materials, track sales etc.)
-
Sell products at weekly markets
-
Identify new business / sales channels
-
Assist us develop our new product line (ethical surf fashion, sustainable products)
-
Research (customer & competitor analysis, sustainable materials & manufacturing, producers & retailers etc.)
Required Experience:

Background in sales, marketing or logistics
-
Business minded
-
Experience with social enterprises
-
Skills in fashion design are an advantage
