Grassroots Ocean Leadership:
Insights from Women Leaders in Latin America and Asia
Event Hosted by SeaSisters Lanka & Sustainable Ocean Alliance Peru
Room Medusa, Green Zone (La Baleine/The Whale)
Across the world, women are leading powerful grassroots efforts to protect our oceans — often with limited resources but deep community roots, creativity, and determination. In this session, we will spotlight women leaders from Latin America and Asia who are transforming the ways their communities interact with the sea.

Rather than a traditional panel, this space will be a collaborative learning exchange where we gather and articulate key design principles for inclusive, empowered grassroots leadership — principles that women in ocean conservation have been shaping and demonstrating for years.
Through case studies, stories, and discussion, speakers will share the hard-won insights behind their approaches.
